SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

As the AFSC continues its work to ensure that decision-making is occurring in ways that are reflective of its anti-racism/oppression commitments and equity and justice principles, the organization has a need to collect and analyze data gathered from its usage of the Anti-Racism Assessment Toolkit and other related documents and surveys. This position will provide critical assistance to the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) and the Board Community Equality and Justice Committee (BCEJC) in the gathering and analyzing of primary data toward that end. In addition, this position will assist with logistics for both the BCEJC and the TWC Subcommittee as both groups pursue the realization of their respective annual plans.

Principal Responsibilities: Support and assist in the collection and analysis of data gathered from the Anti-Racism Assessment Toolkit. Provide logistics support for the BCEJC and TWC Subcommittee under the guidance of the CDO in consultation with the BCEJC and TWC Subcommittee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The key responsibilities of the Research Analyst Intern include the following:

  1. Gather data from the various Anti-Racism Assessment Toolkit reports and other relevant surveys.
  2. Provide assistance in the interpretation of data and support the work of analyzing the data.
  3. Organization and management of a database.
  4. Provide assistance in the development of various reports based on the analysis of the findings.
  5. Assist with the communication of the reports’ findings across the organization.
  6. Provide logistics support to the BCEJC and the TWC Subcommittee as they engage their work toward including constituencies, communities and partners in AFSC decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for interpreting data.
  2. Knowledge of and conversant with anti-racist discourse (Critical Race Theory), decolonization methodologies, feminist/womanist ethics and social justice practices.
  3. Technical experience working with database design software and programming packages.
  4. Strong analytical skills with capacity to collect, organize and analyze and interpret significant amounts of information across various platforms.
  5. Strong ethical basis rooted in notions of transparency and accountability.
  6. Commitment to equality, equity and diversity from a justice-informed model of inclusive practice.
  7. Ability to work as a part of a multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-generational team.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Commitment to Quaker values and testimonies. Understanding of and compatibility with the principles and philosophy of the American Friends Service Committee including non-violence and the belief in the intrinsic worth of every individual.
  2. Understanding of and commitment to the principles, concerns, and considerations, of AFSC in regard to issues of race, class, nationality, religion, age, gender and sexual orientation, and disabilities. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.

COMPENSATION: Salary $22.00/hour, 24 hours/week maximum – Non-Exempt – Comprehensive medical and hospitalization plan; term life, accident and salary continuation insurances, defined benefit pension plan, plus fringe benefits; participation in unemployment and worker’s compensation and social security.
